Professional Development Initiatives
The Professional Development Initiatives (PDI) will provide direct support to strengthen the capacity of associations, organisations, and men and women, in pursuit of the following three objectives:
03 To empower young women and men to actively participate in the development of civil society.
04 To strengthen identified professional bodies to provide to their membership opportunities to develop skills and knowledge essential to achieve best practice in the operation of PNG industry, Civil Society Organisations and government.
05 To strengthen the capacity and profile of Australian and New Zealand Alumni in PNG.
In each of the above human resource and professional development initiatives, Scholarships PNG will focus on providing advice and opportunities for women to identify and undertake courses, training or placements that increase their potential for high-skilled employment or promotion. This is especially the case in respect to “non-traditional” employment areas, including technology-based opportunities, as a practitioner or in management.
Scholarships PNG through the Professional Development Initiatives Component comprises a range of evolving activities and programs.
These include
- Support for Young Leaders and Strengthening PNG Professional Associations primarily through a small grants program providing grants under 3 Categories. Details can be found by following the links to the Small Grants Program.
- Support for Australian and New Zealand Alumni in PNG including implementation strategies for scholar reintegration and support for activities aimed at supporting the autonomy, sustainability, profile and strategic positioning of PNG-Australia Alumni Association and if required, the Kiwi Alumni Network. Details on activities can be found by following the links to Alumni.
- Support for the Australian Leadership Award Fellowships (ALAF) in PNG. ALAF will be actively supported by building linkages and providing promotional and application materials to PNG based professional associations and industry peak bodies where there are linkages to counterpart institutions in Australia and PNG.
